I can almost SMELL it...

Hello,

My blob seems to be coming along now. After trying a few out I think I will stick with this one. It seems to serve the purpose and looks ok. This is not what this post is about, however.

I have just bought my travel insurance. Thanks to Ceri for all her hard work in finding a really cheap one. Now I can afford to go, after all! (maybe)

So
  • flights: check
  • insurance: check
  • packing dry-run: check
Now all I have to do is send all the above details to BUNAC (apart from the packing stats - so far 15 kg sans shoes), save, get an adaptor, sort out a few playlists for the flight, say goodbye to everyone I love and walk onto the plane with Ceri, hand-in-hand.

Wasn't there something else...? Oh yes, vomit.

Does anyone want to come with us?

Carpe diem!

I saw this picture on Flickr and rather liked it. I was going to add it as a favourite before I discovered that I could Blog it! So here we are: it is on my BLOB, I hope...

Perfect Weather To Fly...

The flights have been booked and the countdown has begun.

We are jetting off from Heathrow on the 14th April 2010. This is met with a mixture of excitement, trepidation, vomit, lack of funds, happiness and sombriety. (Is that a word? It is now.) With the tickets booked, insurance nearly bought, apartments looked into (and possibly something solid) it's all becoming very real. It's nice to finally feel like we are actually going; up until booking the flights it was still a rather abstract notion.

There are barely four weekends left to see everyone and do everything I need to. It's strange to be aching to go for so long but now that I can see the departure date winking at me I can't help but want to drag out my last few weeks here. The trip is coming no matter what and it is close enough to count in days; I think that's why it's so sudden, suddenly. Ha.

To do:

  • Buy insurance
  • Find a job in Toronto
  • Vomit
  • Find an apartment (or secure one already found)
  • Make list of things to take
  • Pilfer as much as possible from overdue library books to make the fine worthwhile
  • Clean up the vomit
  • Vomit again

Financial Shortfall (shiiiiiiiit)

I need money please. Thank you. Just some cash, easy to come by if possible. Thanks a lot. Just a smidge. Any at all?

Why is there no way to earn money quickly?

I only work part time and although this gives me time to do things and see people, it also means that my income barely makes an impression and is not readily preparing me for a year abroad. I understand I am in a better position than many people ON EARTH but this does not stop me WANTING MORE. Money = stuff, money = doing things, money = security, money = freedom. These are things that I like and need and want.

Walking home from (my part-time) work today I saw a position advertised. I popped into the agency and was greeted with enthusiasm. I have a form to fill out now and hopefully will be able to supplement my current (like raisins) shifts and perhaps get a few more sheckles put aside. This will be a right booner if it proves viable and I shall not moan about money if I am doing all I can to earn it.

This is a very boring and miserable post. I shall stop now. Once things start to happen I can begin to write other things down on here; maybe, funny things. Or interesting things? Maybe things that will awe and enlighten! Maybe not...

'Mon the money!

Stretch!

I want to touch the sky but I'm too short...

This is sort of a test (of sorts), sort of.

Ceri and I are off to Canada soon, as anyone who knows us will probably know. I received my work permit last Friday and we are waiting for Ceri to get hers.

When she does we shall book our tickets and buy our insurance. It looks as though we will be departing mid April. This depends on a variety of things of course.

I am not sure what else to write just yet since there is nothing exciting going on other than that. Further updates as events warrant...
